Afternoon tea conjures up images of croquet on the lawns of stately homes, pastel-coloured petticoats and Jane Austen style love interests giving you the eye over a steaming cup of Earl Grey. It really is one of life's glorious little pleasures.
€15 for afternoon tea for two at The Plaza Bistro, Ballincolliig or €20 to include two glasses of Prosecco. How lovely does that sound?
You may find yourself enjoying a leisurely stroll in Ballincollig's beautiful Regional Park on a hazy, spring day working up an appetite and craving something really special so why not treat yourself to a tantalising selection of tasty bites from The Plaza's newly launched Afternoon Tea menu?
The Plaza Bistro is famous for their luscious desserts and they're exclusively launching their new Afternoon Tea menu with GrabOne. There's a selection of up to 16 delectable treats like passion fruit cream slices, chocolate profiteroles, plum tart, mini strawberry chesse cakes and Tiramisu.
There are also a selection of fresh brown and white sandwiches with chicken, rocket, cucumber, tomato / cheese and ham / egg maynonaise and smoked salmon on melba toast and hot cheese bites . . . yum!
One of my favourite parts of afternoon tea are the scones that beg to be smothered in clotted cream and jam and are made all the more enjoyable with a selection of teas, freshly brewed coffee or hot chocolate.
However, if you opt for the second option you and your dining partner can add a bit of sparkle to your day with a glass of Prosecco each.
Sounds like a dreamy afternoon to me.
